I used to live this Utopian life where each day was a day to discover myself and the beauty and wonder of life and living. My obligations were loving and co-creating with my children, with nature, with ideas and words, with luscious food, with clients and friends … on my time table. The gentleman whom I was seeing at the time (and still am-check out what he has to say at my website) used to appreciatively call me a “luxurious darling”. He was right; I felt like the lusciously vital subject of a famous 19th century painter, luxuriously reclined back on a divan with the sense of awe curling my tongue.
Our belief that the source of joy is material objects is full of illusion. If this belief were to be true all material pleasures would have given satiation to all mankind in an equal manner. Or else all of mankind would have attained eternal joy without a speck of sorrow by now. Today all over the world we find people who have amassed plenty of wealth and grandeur and yet their lives are full of despair, agony and hopelessness. These material objects (TV, computer, cars, aircrafts, AC, movies etc) do not help in alleviating their pain and sorrow in a permanent manner.
Words fail to describe this enchanting place. Yes, indeed it is a magical place. There can be many names for this place – the land of beauty, the land of bounty, the land of culture, the land of spirituality, the land of exotic cuisine, the land of smiles, or the land of excitement!
Food is considered divine here because you can get variety of food, ranging from roadside vendors selling chicken and sausages to even grasshoppers and cockroaches. As unbelievable the range of food may sound, it is true. So, brace yourself to be the connoisseur of all kinds of food if you plan to visit Thailand.
Jammu Kashmir tourism is affectionately dubbed as the best holiday destination for adventure seekers, nature lovers, honeymooners, wildlife lovers and even routine vacationers. Almost every city of this heavenly state boasts of offering matchless beauty. Patnitop, 112 km from Jammu, is one such hill resort on a splendid plateau that offers thickly wooded forests, superb picnic spots, tranquil and serene walks, panoramic River Chenab and magnificent views of the snow clad peaks.
The prominent attractions in Patnitop, which draw countless tourists from all over the world, are:
* Three exotic ice-cold freshwater springs that are said to have medicinal properties.
* Colourful and aromatic flowery meadows that make it a superb place for walks & picnic.

A few of them are famous for lime stone masses while some are known for spellbinding natural beauty and spectacular views of the colourful hills & mountains of the Karokoram, Zanaskar and Ladakh ranges. The Indus river and its tributary Zanskar is one of the striking beauty of this place. The best natural attraction here is the ‘Magnetic Hill’, where you can see for yourself vehicles moving up at a speed of 20 km/hour with the engines off.
Alleppey – the commercial and industrial centre for the coir industry and for cashew nut processing – is the city for beautiful blue lagoons, canals, backwaters and beaches. Entitled as the ‘Venice of the East’, Alleppey or Alappuzha lets you enjoy a closer look at various exclusive species of aquatic life including frogs, crabs and mudskippers, water birds such as cormorant, darter, kingfisher and animals such as turtles and otters live in and alongside the Alleppy backwaters.

Freida Pinto going by the season’s minimalistic theme, kept it neutral and natural at the screening of ‘Miral’ in Doha Tribeca Film Festival 2010. Her simple looks complemented well the oh-so-striking chiffon dress from the Christian Dior Resort 2011 collection.

This Mumbai girl who rose to fame with her ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ has always upgraded her red carpet look, and amazingly gets it right all the time. Freida like to blend contemporary style with elegance and never tries anything outrageous. Her experiment with varied hairstyle for different events also gets thumbs up.
However, Freida is said to be a misfit to play Miral in the film. In a recent interview, Julian Schnabel defended his decision to cast Freida in ‘Miral.’ He is quoted as saying, “I have other Palestinian women in the movie. If you look at her [Pinto], she looks like she could be Rula’s sister. And she’s a damn good actress.” In fact, the actress has worked hard on her accent for the film.

The ‘Hisss’ lady is enjoying her fun time in Doha Film Festival 2010. Mallika Sherawat was not only seen in the opening day of the gala event but also made her presence felt at the ‘Miral’ premiere. Her back-less gown in the metallic hue with an edgy feel made her look sexy, but what we missed was the ‘wow’ effect. If the dress has dull effect on us, Mallika made up with her make-up, gleaming face and that gorgeous smile.
However, it was pleasing to see Mallika trying out normal outfits. Her Cannes red carpet look was highly appreciated as she didn’t try too hard on fashion seeking attention rather let her chic dresses to do the talking. She also posed for photos with Freida Pinto, Indian actress of Miral and also writer-journalist Rula Jabreal.
Only the lady could change her hairdo! It would have spiced up things. It’s boring, Hisss gal!

* Cut the lemon and rub the wedge all over your face. Leave it for about 20 minutes, then rinse off with cold water. This will refresh your face. Avoid doing this if you have dry skin.
* Mix honey, lemon and vegetable oil .This mixture is a good moisturiser for dry skin. Apply this mask for 10 minutes.
* Apply the mixture of honey and milk on the face . This will make your skin glow.
* Prepare a mask by mixing a slice of pumpkin with egg yolk and milk. Let this mask set on your face for 30 minutes for a glowing skin.
* Mix half-a-cup honey to your bath water for soft and smooth skin.
* For a soothing body pack, prepare a paste of mint leaves and almonds. Mix it with warm water and apply all over your body. Leave it till it dries and rinse with warm water.
Home Remedies for Skin Care
* Mash banana with milk and apply it on face . Leave it for 20 minutes and rinse with cold water.
* Make a fine paste of one teaspoon of walnut powder, lemon juice and honey. Scrub the body with the paste. Leave it for 20 minutes and rinse with cold water.
* Make a paste of turmeric powder and orange juice. Scrub it on the area that is widely exposed to sun or cold weather. Leave it for 20 minutes and rinse it with cold water.
* A piece of papaya when applied to the face can do a similar magic.
* Boil cabbage in water and let the water cool overnight. Wash your face with this water early in the morning.
* Make a paste of powdered mango peels and 1 teaspoon of milk powder. Scrub it over the area that is widely exposed to sun or cold weather.

Most of us would say that we put thought and consideration into our appearance and that we take time picking out our outfits and ensuring that they go well together and that they will look appropriate for the current fashion and the event we’re heading too. Of course this is even more true of ladies who arguably have greater interest in such matters. However while it is indeed important to spend time picking out the best top and best trousers or skirt, it is equally important to take time picking the shoes and this is something that is often overlooked and thought to be less important. The reason for this is that shoes are worn on our feet at the bottom of trousers or under dresses where they are rarely seen, and it might seem as though there isn’t much of a fashion involved in shoe buying as they all look relatively much of a much-ness.
However it is actually highly important to spend a lot of time choosing shoes and these are one of the things that finish off an outfit and ensure that you look like you know what you’re doing and have real style – rather than being just a wannabe. It is also true that a good pair of shoes can greatly boost a ladies physique making you taller, making your legs more slender and your buttocks firmer. It even changes the way that you walk and gives you a more confident and sexy stride that will draw attention to you. At the same time there is a lot of variation in shoes and more than you might imagine and it is a great area for fashion.
Currently fashionable for instance are ugg boots which are very furry boots that are also quite large. These look a little like you have a bear’s foot (a colorful bear from Sesame Street) and are very comfortable and warm to wear. At the same time though, the fact that they are large and fluffy means that they can help make the rest of your legs look highly slim and slender, so they’re great for contrasting with skinny jeans or with tights.
Of course these won’t be suitable for all occasions, and are mainly suited to the colder weather. For another piece of day wear, ‘wedges’ are also highly fashionable and these are high heels that use wedges instead of the traditional point to make them more comfortable to give the same lift and leg extension with a lot less agro. These have even found their way into wellingtons now, with many festival goers using this wedge technique to wear water proof shoes and still create a sexy look – even festivals and camping isn’t a refuge from fashion.
During the evening other types of shoes are more suitable (though you can still wear wedges if you want to dance for longer without tiring). For instance plimsolls are very popular in blacks and silver and these are more comfortable than heels but don’t offer some of the cushioning you would normally get. For heels meanwhile it is currently quite fashionable to have heels a different color from the shoe itself – such as silver heels with black shoes. Then of course there are the timeless classics such as a pair of black open-toed heels with some nicely painted nails which will look great whatever the fashion.

Kolkata artist Sunita Kumar opened her latest exhibition at the Jehangir Art Gallery Mumbai inspired by her close associate and friend- Mother Teresa. I was worked with her for 32 years and continued till 1997 the fateful year when she passed away said a nostalgic Kumar. From her hometown she brings to life the sights and the atmosphere of her India. It an interpretation of the wildlife and nature the street scenes and architecture and the life of Mother Teresa.
